About athletic Mouth Guards
If you or your kid plays a high-impact sport (for example, boxing, football, soccer, hockey, baseball, or wrestling), then dental professionals Drs. Kahn, Ferrari, Aldieri, and their team highly recommend a custom mouth guard to shield your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Compared to store-bought, generic mouth guards, custom-made mouth guards from KFA Dental Excellence will be crafted and adjusted for you, making it more comfortable and effective. If you want to decrease the chance of harm to your mouth, we encourage you to contact KFA Dental Excellence in Farmingdale, NY for more information about custom-made mouth guards.
Best Candidates For a Mouth Guard
Professionally made mouth guards are important if you or a member of your family plays a sport with high contact or has a high risk of injury. Many of our patients participate in volleyball, martial arts, football, soccer, softball, hockey, wrestling, and other sports. A professionally made mouth guard can be particularly helpful when you have braces or dental restorations since these can cut your gums, as well as the soft tissue in your mouth. Mouth guards have also been shown to assist athletes in sports without contact (jogging, yoga, weight lifting) by decreasing strain on the jaw. Since a custom mouth guard has been created especially for your needs, it usually fits better and lasts longer compared to boil and bite or stock mouth protectors available at sporting goods stores.
"Okay, so I have been going to KFA dental for going on almost a year now. I was waiting to write a review after getting a bunch of fillings. Because I'm being honest, I was terrified of going back to the dentist. But before I delve into that, I want to talk about how amazing and kind everybody in the building is. The ladies at the front desk are SUPER professional, no question is a stupid question to them. I have never seen them rude to anyone before. You know how sometimes in some medical practices, you can have amazing healthcare professionals, yet the front desk staff is rude and it kills your overall experience? NOT THIS PLACE WHATSOEVER. Moving on, my first visit they did a bunch of X-rays and laid out to me what work needs to be done and explained in lay-mans terms what I need done and why I need it. Dental work is expensive, so you can always go on a payment plan and slowly pay everything off. (also, I have a few fees I still have to pay, and they don't seem to harass you about paying them off quickly) During my cleaning the dental hygienist was super professional and made sure I didn't feel any pain during it since I haven't had a cleaning done in a while. They give you an option to put the anesthetic ointment on your gums. During my fillings, I went in terrified I would feel the novacane needle, they were really good at letting me know what I was going to expect and that I was numb enough before injecting the needle. They gave me a lot of good tips and tricks to cleaning and caring for my teeth and I would honestly recommend people I know to go to KFA dental. If you are still worried about covid, and want to know if there's precautions still put in place, the dentist and hygienist still wear their masks in the there all day, and they ask that you wear a mask going into the building as well. Anybody scrolling reviews to see if they are worth going to, I would say definitively go! It is worth it here."- F.F. / Google / Aug 16, 2022
"I’ve been with KFA dental for about 6 years now and the only regret I have is that I didn’t know about them sooner! Everyone there is very professional, caring, and thorough. The office is very nice, clean, and they have all high tech equipment. Everyone there takes their time to get to know you. The doctors, dental assistants, etc. explain everything to you so you feel as comfortable as possible with whatever procedure you’re having done. They never make you feel silly for any questions that you have. I used to have such anxiety going to the dentist and now I know I am in such good hands with the KFA family. They’re wonderful. Can’t say enough about them!"- C.C. / Google / Jul 12, 2022

What to Expect With a Mouth Guard
To create your mouth guard, our dental team will take a collection of digital or physical dental impressions. Your impressions will be sent to a dental laboratory where professionals will make your mouth guard from durable, high-quality materials. Once made and delivered to our office, you will come back to our office for a fitting. We will make sure your guard fits correctly and feels comfortable.
As soon as you receive your mouth guard, it is very important to wear it during sports or if your mouth requires extra protection. Taking care of your mouth guard will be critical in maintaining its lifespan. It's necessary to keep it in a safe place and wash it before and after use. Our team will go over the ideal method to wash your mouth guard based on the substances used. You should take it with you to every dental appointment so we can check its current state and also let you know when a replacement is needed.
