What is Same-Day Restoration?

Until recently, dental reconstructions demanded, at the very minimum, two dental visits since physical dental impressions were created and sent to a dental laboratory. However, Ferrari & Aldieri Dental Associates is now very happy to provide CEREC technology for same-day restorations. CEREC (which stands for ceramic reconstruction) utilizes state-of-the-art computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing technology to produce your restoration in our practice while you wait. We utilize the CEREC system to make custom bridges, crowns, inlays, and onlays. The CEREC system can be used for cosmetic treatments to generate customized veneers as well. This revolutionary treatment allows you to skip the discomfort and time of physical dental impressions and temporary covers. Schedule a consultation with one of our skilled dentists at our office in Farmingdale, NY to find out more about CEREC restorations.

Can I Use CEREC Same-Day Restoration?

CEREC same-day restorations at Ferrari & Aldieri Dental Associates help you finish a cosmetic or restorative dental procedure in just one appointment. This is great for people that need custom-made crowns, bridges, onlays, inlays, or even veneers. CEREC helps you avoid several appointments and the hassle of dental impressions so it is great if you want to avoid several appointments or even have a strong gag reflex. CEREC same-day restorations can also be extremely helpful when you have a dental emergency, like a broken crown or tooth. If you are wondering if CEREC same-day restorations are something you can utilize during one of your dental appointments, talk to one of the friendly members of the Ferrari & Aldieri Dental Associates team for more information.

How Does Same-Day Restoration Work?

A CEREC restoration will start with a consultation where one of our skilled dentists will work with you to create your personal treatment plan. We will take a scan of your mouth and create your restoration. From there, your restoration will be placed into the CEREC machine to be milled. The amount of time required to create your restoration will be based on its size. Once the restoration is created, we will complete and polish it before putting it in place in your mouth. We may need to modify the restoration once it's in place so it fits properly and comfortably and matches the natural color of your tooth enamel.

How Do I Care for My Mouth After same-day restoration?

Once your same-day restoration is complete, it's very important that you keep a great at-home oral hygiene routine. Your annual dental examinations and twice-yearly cleanings at Ferrari & Aldieri Dental Associates will also be vital. At every appointment, one of our highly skilled dentists will check your CEREC restoration to ensure everything is still properly set. In the event that something needs adjustment, we will either take care of it during your appointment or schedule a new appointment to address those issues. We want to make sure you can maintain your best healthy mouth. If cared for properly, ceramic restorations can remain in place for several years.

CEREC Same-Day Restorations FAQ

How is a CEREC restoration different from traditional restorations?

Unlike a traditional crown, bridge, inlay, or onlay that has to be made in a lab and takes up to two weeks to finish, a CEREC restoration is made the same day as your visit using 3D modeling that forms it out of a block of ceramic. A CEREC restoration is strong, durable, natural-looking, and best of all, can be made quickly — so you don't have to put up with the hassle of wearing a temporary crown or bridge.

How long does a CEREC restoration last?

Most CEREC restorations can last up to 15 years or longer in some cases with good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups.

Does a CEREC restoration look natural?

Yes, it does. The ceramic that a CEREC restoration is made out of has a number of shades to choose from that will match the color of your natural teeth.

How long does it take to get a CEREC restoration placed?

A CEREC restoration can be made and placed in one dental visit. It only takes about 20 minutes for the CEREC machine to finish your custom-made dental restoration.
