What Are Hybrid Implants?

Hybrid implants are similar to dental implants, however, rather than replacing one tooth, they replace many missing teeth for both aesthetic reasons and functionality. These are posts that are surgically inserted in the top and/or bottom arches of your mouth, then anchored to your jawbone. From there, they may subsequently be connected to either crowns or dentures. Ferrari & Aldieri Dental Associates in Farmingdale, NY offers custom-made hybrid implants, giving you the smile you've been dreaming of. Made from durable, top-of-the-line materials for a comfortable fit, hybrid implants look natural and last anywhere from 5 – 10 years.

Can I Get Hybrid Implants?

You could be an ideal candidate for hybrid implants if you are missing many or all of your teeth. If you are looking for a long-lasting solution to replace your missing teeth, hybrid implants are a great option. It's important to note that you should have mostly healthy gums and normal bone surfaces so the implants can be inserted correctly and comfortably. Before receiving any procedure, one of our skilled dentists will evaluate your dental health to decide if hybrid implants are the best solution for you.

What Happens When I Get Hybrid Implants?

Before the procedure, someone on the Ferrari & Aldieri Dental Associates team will take digital x-rays, scans, and impressions of your mouth to evaluate the placement of your implants. Hybrid implants are typically surgically inserted so you will need to go under anesthesia for this procedure. We will place the hybrid implants and from there, attach dentures or a temporary crown to the implant while your permanent fixtures are being made. This allows the implants time to fuse properly into the jaw. Once the implants are fully integrated, we will attach your permanent fixtures. From there, you'll have a smile worth posing for!

Is There Recovery Time with A Hybrid Implant?

It's likely we'll want to schedule a follow-up appointment a few weeks after getting your permanent crowns or dentures. This is important so we can check the fit and comfort of the hybrid implants and your crowns or dentures. Your implants should be brushed, flossed, and cared for in the same way as your natural teeth. If properly cared for, your implants should last up to ten years; however, it's vitally important to maintain your regular annual dental exams and biannual dental cleanings so we can ensure that your implants last as long as possible.

Hybrid Implants FAQ

How much do hybrid implants cost?

We love hybrid dental implants because they are a far more affordable option for our patients. While a single dental implant can cost as much as $1,500 up to over $20,000 for a full set, hybrid implants are a fraction of the cost. Only four implants are used, so the procedure is much more cost-effective than full implants.

What type of cleaning and maintenance is involved with hybrid implants?

Unlike dentures, which have to be removed nightly to be cleaned, you can clean your hybrid implants just like your natural teeth. Brush your teeth, gums, and tongue with toothpaste that is free of abrasive ingredients. Your toothpaste and mouthwash should not contain any whitening agents or alcohol. Flossing is recommended, but make sure the floss is nylon-coated so it doesn’t snag on your titanium implants.

Can I still eat and drink everything I used to before getting hybrid implants?

Yes and no! You will need to go slow when it comes to eating with your new teeth right after your hybrid implant procedure. Start with softer foods and gradually work up to crunchier and firmer foods. It’s best to avoid foods and drinks with a lot of acidity in order to keep your smile looking great for as long as possible.
